Terms:                                On average 1.5 hours per week, minimum commitment of 2 months 

                                            Thursday from 3:30pm-5:00pm

Scope

Responsible for facilitating basic art lessons for newcomer children ages 6-12.

 

Responsibilities

  • Deliver art lessons for newcomer children using a variety of art mediums
  • Coordinate lesson plans with Polycultural’s Youth Facilitator in advance
  • Assess the abilities and interests of children and adjust programming as needed
  • Encourage participants and act as a positive role model
  • Assist with program preparation and clean up
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy

 

Qualifications

  • Skills and experience in leading arts and crafts programs for children
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs and issues facing young children, specifically newcomers to Canada
  • Punctual and responsible

 

Other requirements

  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check
