Scope
Polycultural Immigrant and Community Services is looking for energetic, enthusiastic, and reliable supply Early Childhood Educator Assistants (ECA) to provide high-quality childcare and early learning at our locations across the GTA. As a supply ECA, you will be supervised by Registered Early Childhood Educators.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow Care for Newcomer Children (CNC) requirements
- Assist ECE staff in implementing programs that are engaging, stimulating, and appropriate for the age group based on the interests of the children. Programs must meet the physical, cognitive, intellectual, and emotional needs of the children.
- Assist in maintaining the health & safety and general well-being of the children at all times by conducting periodic health checks, recording attendance and illnesses, documenting accidents, and informing ECE staff of any concerns pertaining to the well-being of the children
- Build positive working relationships with staff, parents, and children
- Interact with children to encourage their involvement in activities
- Participate in assessing the skills, abilities, and interests of enrolled children and observing children’s progress and behaviours
- Assist with the organization and maintenance of the classroom, including the cleaning and maintenance of supplies, toys, and equipment
- Inform ECE staff whenever areas of concern are detected
- Assist children with washroom routines, diapering, dressing
- Administer first aid as required
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
- High School Diploma and minimum one-year diploma in a child development program or a related field from a recognized academic institution, or completion of 50% of the credits of a diploma in a child development program or related field from a recognized academic institution
- One year of experience working in a childcare environment
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR training certification or willingness to obtain
- Good interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to assist in emergencies, crises, or when encountering hostile behaviour
- Proven commitment to contribute to teamwork
- Ability to carry/lift/move moderately heavy items and children, work with chemical cleaning solutions, and stand for long periods
- Awareness of and sensitivity to the needs of newcomers
- Current Health assessment, including immunization and proof of Tuberculosis status
- Excellent punctuality, professionalism, and diligence
- Ability to speak a second language is an asset
Physical Requirements
- The job involves working with young children and includes lifting and participating in physical activities. It may also involve the supervision of children and physical activities out of doors.
Other Requirements
- A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check (completed when offer is made)
